Obtain Information about Pre-existing Condition Provisions in New York

January 11, 2008 – Attention New York Customers and Others Insured for Long Term Disability Benefits Under Sun Life Group Insurance Policies Issued in New York:

If you or someone in your company was denied disability benefits because of a pre-existing condition under the above type of policy, a recent New York Court of Appeals decision may be of interest to you.

As a result of a recent court case in New York, a pre-existing condition provision in a long term disability policy is now viewed as a waiting period and not a complete bar for coverage of those disabilities that arise within the first 12 months of coverage.
