I've worn many hats at Sun Life. I started working for Sun Life nine years ago in Customer Service, then was promoted to an Account Executive role after six months. Two years later, I was promoted to a Supervisor for our Group Insurance Division. I left Sun Life for a few months and then returned to Group Premium in an accounting role.
In January of 2007, I put on a very different "hat" and moved to the Public Relations & Communications department, responsible for Community Relations. During my tenure at Sun Life, I also became very involved in the Diversity Steering Committee and accepted the role as the Chair of the Employee Resource Group BLAC (Black Leadership Awareness Council). My involvement with these groups and Sun Life's diversity initiatives eventually led to my current position as Diversity Consultant.
In addition to the many opportunities presented to me at Sun Life in terms of my career, the company has also provided me with a great work/life balance. I've always had the ability to create my own flexible work schedule, and with a young son, it's especially important to me to have that balance. For me, it's this balance, combined with the career opportunities and focus on diversity awareness that make Sun Life an employer of choice.
